My Story
I grew up with a passion for sports and a general interest in being healthy. But before the age of 10, I was dealing with pretty severe IBS — something that plagued my daily life for nearly two decades.
I spent my high school years competing at the varsity and state level in both wrestling and weightlifting, which required me to focus on strength while keeping my weight down. My body paid the price: both clavicles dislocated, multiple sprained ankles, a hairline fracture in my sternum, and knees that resembled those of a man twice my age.
By my early 20s, I was working in professional kitchens, consuming 2,000mg of Ibuprofen daily — well above the recommended limit — just to make it through a shift. When my twin boys were born in 2014, I was working 65+ hours a week, surviving on whatever I could eat at work, way too much coffee, soda, and painkillers.
I knew something had to change, but I was clueless what to do. My IBS was worse than ever, sometimes keeping me from work, hiking, or even fishing out of fear of limited bathroom access. My pain was constant. My energy was non-existent.
"Within just a few weeks of changing my approach, my digestion was better than ever, my pain had dramatically reduced, and my energy was back. I've been locked in ever since."
The turning point came at dinner with my dad — who's now an FNTP himself. He'd been reading the latest research on nutrition and health, and shared a few books with me. I listened to them on Audible during my commute and was dumbfounded. I dove all in.
Within weeks, my two decades of IBS symptoms were essentially gone. My pain dropped dramatically. My energy came back. I consumed everything I could get my hands on — over 100 books, hundreds of hours of podcasts, conversations with respected doctors, RDs, and nutritionists across the country.
I went through formal training programs at the Nutritional Therapy Association and Primal Health Coach Institute, then continued with specialized training in Organic Acids Testing, mycotoxin testing, stool analysis, and multiple blood chemistry courses. I've invested in more than a half-dozen functional medicine lab trainings, along with business and clinical mentors who've helped shape my approach.
I've worked alongside one of the top Functional Medicine doctors in the Pacific Northwest, run my own practice, and led content development and nutritional counseling for a company helping long-haul truck drivers improve their health. I started mentoring coaches in 2020 and began teaching blood chemistry formally in 2021.
